Little Robin

Little robin outside my window,
Busy pecking to get fed
With little specks
Lying on the flower bed,
Oblivious to the big bad world
That you have blinked your eyes to.
Do you realize all the snares
You will encounter on your
Brief journey here on earth?
If you could speak you might go
"tee-hee, tee-hee,
Woeful human, flee, flee,
For all around is glee, glee
And I am free, free,
No mortal woes for me, me,
merry robin, hee, hee,
I'd rather peck in the lea, lea
And perch on a tree, tree".
You're still a throbbing little spark
With instinctive pulse to peck,
Peck away, peck away
Blissful in your youthful fog,
Peck away, peck away,
Fill your belly to your heart's content
Till it bulges like a teapot;
Live your life up on the tree,
All zappy, zippy, full of glee
And leave us weary humans
To stagger beneath our heavy burdens.
